Do you sell directly to end users?

Sales in the United States are only available through approved distributors, sales to end users in some foreign countries are available.

If I am an end user, can I call you direct and discuss my needs?

If I am an end user, can you still provide me with prices?

No, we will provide you with one or more distributors that can provide you with prices.

Will I get an acknowledgment of the order?

Yes. We will contact you via email with the expected ship date. If there are changes to your order, we’ll communicate those as well.

Will we get an approval drawing?

What colors can I get something powder coated?

We can provide product in nearly all standard RAL colors, as well as some special colors.  Additional charges may apply.

Are shipping costs included in the price?

No, we can provide a shipping estimate, however, it is the responsibility of the buyer to assume all shipping costs.

Where are Rack Engineering products manufactured or shipped from?

All the products are manufactured and shipped from our plant in Northern Michigan, USA.

Do you export outside of the United States?

We do sell outside of the United States, however, it is the responsibility of the buyer to assume all exporting needs.

What are my payment terms?

Payment terms are subject to credit review.

What do I do if something is damaged in transit?

Don’t let the driver leave without noting the damage on the bill of lading. Ask the driver what their freight claims process is.  You should always take digital pictures of the damaged equipment when possible.  The buyer is responsible for filing a freight claim.  We can assist you in obtaining any necessary information needed to complete the freight claim, and will work to help ensure the best chance of a resolution in your favor.

Do you install your equipment?

No, we do provide installation instructions and you can also call for assistance at 800-245-6890.

What is the return policy?

Most Rack Engineering Division products are custom made and are not returnable. Please contact a sales representative at 800-245-6890 for more information.

How do I figure out how many drawers I can get into a cabinet?

A cabinet housing is divided into spaces, the smallest drawer takes up four (4) spaces, the largest drawer takes up twenty five (25) spaces. You can add any combination of drawers to total the cabinet housing size. For example, a thirty-six (36) space cabinet housing could have a total of six (6) drawers that each take up six (6) spaces, or that same thirty-six (36) space cabinet housing could have a quantity of one (1), six (6) space drawer and a quantity of six (6), five (5) space drawers.

Can I have the different size drawers located in any position?

Yes, specify the location when you place your order.

Once I get my cabinet and if I change my mind on the drawer locations. Can I change them?

Yes and here is the procedure.

  1. Remove drawer by opening fully, then lifting the front of the drawer in order to clear the carriage cross member.
  2. Remove the carriage by opening fully, then lifting two release latches (one per side) on carriage to clear carriage carrier.
  3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws from each carriage carrier.
  4. Remove carriage carrier by lifting upward and pulling forward.
  5. Relocate carrier to desired location and reverse the above steps to install carriage and drawer.

Caution: Be certain carriage is fully engaged to carrier before installing drawer and be certain drawer is fully engaged to carriage before use.

What is the difference between a partition and a divider?

The partition is made from formed steel and runs front to back of drawer and gets screwed down. Dividers are aluminum and just slide into slots.

How do I figure out what partition and dividers I need?

Measure where the handle is screwed on to the drawer front. The drawer front will determine the size of the partitions and dividers.

What is the difference between a lock and a lock assembly?

A lock comes with only 2 keys. A lock assembly comes with a lock, 2 keys, a welded lock stem and throw cam.

Can I add casters to my cabinet?

Yes, you can do it by buying a dolly pan.

What do I need to know to get a quote for a Glide-Out?

Shelf clearance, shelf capacity, shelf size, unit height. See the Glide Out Worksheet.

Can I move the shelves after I get the Glide-Out?

Yes, the shelves are adjustable on 2” centers.

If we order the unit with the auto lock, can we still move the shelves?

Yes, but the auto lock will not work unless you order a new tube for the auto lock.

Are there other options for the shelf tops besides a solid metal top?

Yes, some examples are: expanded or perforated metal tops, rubber matting or plastic tops. We can also do custom tool/part holders on the shelves.

If I order an intermediate support, what level do I have to put it on?

You will be able to use it on any level.

Can you store other things besides round stock, pipe or tube?

Yes, we have customers that use them for storing dies, helicopter blades, etc.

Can you provide special holders for the Crank-Out Cantilever?

Yes, we can do special cradles, plastic lined arms, etc.

Do you only offer these as a pull out shelf?

No, we can provide crank out, pneumatic or electric options.

Can I get a custom sized unit? If so, what the maximum size.

Yes, we do many custom sizes. Please contact a sales representative at 800-245-6890 for more information.

Can I get the shelves with solid decking?

Can I get a unit that holds more than 5500 lbs.?
